One could argue that “Plus” and “Slim” categories are necessary to accommodate the “many different shapes and sizes our beautiful children come in,” notes Rasika Boice, but “the issue is not whether to make a range of widths and lengths available but the words used to describe them.”

Young girls, says Boice, immediately notice the difference between calling a pair of jeans 27 W x 28 L and size 10 Plus. So too, I’d like to add, do young boys.
