On Wednesday night, U.S. Soccer suspended U.S. goalie Hope Solo for six months for calling Sweden’s players ” a bunch of cowards” after they beat the U.S. team in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio in an upset.

The federation’s decision to terminate Solo’s contract, as well, may very well signal the end for Solo, the woman at the center of so many of America’s successful women’s World Cup and Olympic teams.

This isn’t the first time Solo has put “her foot in it” after taking a few positive steps toward adjusting her attitude and rehabilitating her reputation, says Boren.
