Andrey Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey was assassinated Monday evening while attending an art exhibit in Ankara the capital of the Republic of Turkey. The man suspected of killing him, Mert Altintas, was a police officer.  Altintas shot the ambassador in the back as he was giving a speech to a small group of people. According to reports, he shouted  “don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria!” before being killed by police officers.

It is not clear how many other people were wounded with first reports suggesting that three other people had been shot.
