The Library of Congress is one of our venerable cultural institutions. It is also the largest library in the world.  There have been 14 librarians in its long history and now for the first time, it has a female librarian Carla Hayden, who also is African Amercian.  And this past Wednesday, Hayden invited four-year-old Daliyah Marie Arana to be the librarian for the day.

Daliyah has already read over 1000 books. Some of what she reads is on a college level.  Her love for reading and libraries defines her at this young age. According to her mother,

“She just kept saying how the Library of Congress is her most favorite, favorite, favorite library in the whole wide world.”
