Over one million people have signed a petition to ban President Trump from coming to Britain on a state visit. The petition was started after he announced his executive order banning immigrants from seven Muslim countries from coming into the United States. Prime Minister Theresa May invited Trump after having met with him last week at the White House.
As it stands now, May has no intention of rescinding the invitation. That may change as politicians who do not support the ban on Muslims are making themselves heard. According to BuzzFeed News,
Writing in the Evening Standard, London mayor Sadiq Khan called the measure “discriminatory and counter-productive”, and called on Theresa May to rescind the offer of Trump’s state visit “until this ban is lifted”.
