On Thursday, Republican Sen. Rand Paul reintroduced an alternative to the Obamacare repeal plan proffered by leaders in the GOP earlier this week.

“The bill advanced through the House Ways and Means Committee in the early-morning hours Thursday, on a party-line vote of 23 to 16,” says Gorman.

Rand is one of several conservative members of the House Freedom Caucus who have publicly disapproved of the Republican plan to replace and repeal President Obama’s signature health care law, reports Michele Gorman, and who has said that the bill does not go far enough in dismantling the ACA.

Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to meet with Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, in Paul’s home state, to tout the new GOP health care bill, and Trump is expected to visit there soon as well.
