It is hard to believe that Speaker Ryan thinks that his proposed version of Trumpcare is going to pass, especially since over the weekend he said he was going to make changes and that the impact of those changes will not be reviewed by the CBO prior to the vote on Thursday. Once again he wants to hide the truth from his colleagues and the American people.
The likelihood of his being able to accommodate those that are concerned that it costs too much and those that are concerned that too many people are losing coverage is not realistic. It may be that he thinks that he can’t push it through the house and let it die in the Senate so he doesn’t have to take the blame for his inability to repeal and replace Obamacare.
According to ThinkProgress,
‘…Ryan says he is confident it will pass, despite his own admission that major components are still under construction. ‘The reason I feel so good about this is because the president has become a great closer. He’s the one who has helped negotiate changes to this bill with members from all over our caucus.’
“The president has become a great closer.” Really? Wow, Washington is an alternative universe with alternative facts. – Jan Harrison
