With permitless carry, or constitutional carry, legislation, GOP lawmakers have been attempting to push through measures that will allow Americans to carry concealed firearms without a permit, reports Michele Gorman.
Since January, Republican lawmakers have been busy creating or reintroducing bills designed to loosen gun laws in states across the country.
In Florida, for example, new legislation would reinforce self-defense laws, such as “Stand Your Ground,” says Gorman, and shift the burden from the defendant to the prosecution. In other words, state attorneys would need to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” why a defendant, such as George Zimmerman, was not justified in his use of force.
Meanwhile, Washington state now considering a bill that would allow a specialty plate featuring the National Rifle Association logo.
