Americans like to think they have a level of privacy, that Big Brother isn’t watching. With each passing decade and new technological innovation that expectation has withered. Last October however the Obama Administration put regulations in place to protect a consumer’s privacy on the internet. They didn’t survive Trump’s election and the GOP’s take over of the House and Senate. When most of us were focused on keeping our healthcare, the GOP was focused on revoking the regulations that keep our information private on the internet.

According to The Washington Post the former regulations, “required Internet service providers to get explicit consent before they gather their customers’ data — their browsing histories, the locations of businesses they physically visit and the mobile applications they use — and sell it to third parties.”

Now, because somehow the Republicans think it will be good for consumers, when in essence all it is good for is corporate America, our privacy is up for sale.

Thank the GOP.
