Donald Trump has spent 13 of his first 28 weekends as president out of the White House. He has played golf 21 times thus far, compared to Obama’s 11 times at the same point in his presidency. This week, Trump begins a 17-day vacation in one of his many resorts in Bedminster, New Jersey. Despite his admonition to others, President Obama in particular, that hardworking executives shouldn’t take vacations, the current President seems to be on quite a roll.
He continually criticized President Obama for playing golf and for taking vacations.
According to The Daily News, not long after he declared his candidacy in June 2015, Trump said he “would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done.”
“I would not be a President who took vacations,” he promised. “I would not be a President that takes time off.”
And yet, for the next 17 days, Trump will be enjoying himself at Bedminster — away from that “dump” of a White House — but he will, according to the president himself, be working hard, not playing.
So, what has he been doing since he left?
The hypocrisy of this president is stunning but no less so than his supporters’ lack of desire to hold him accountable.
