Secretary of State Rex Tillerson suggests that we should sleep well at night…

But most Americans haven’t been sleeping well since November 9, 2016, and as of yesterday, it looks like many sleepless nights are ahead given President Trump’s profoundly stupid and dangerous response to North Korea’s pushback on UN sanctions.

Trump said that the U.S. will meet any threat from Pyongyang “with fire and fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

According to BuzzFeed News,

Seb Gorka, one of Trump’s top national security advisers, made comments backing Trump on Wednesday morning. ‘He is saying don’t test America and don’t test Donald J. Trump,’ Gorka said on Fox and Friends, discussing Trump’s tweets. ‘The message is very clear: don’t test this White House, Pyongyang.’

He echoed the president’s statements of strength, saying, ‘We are not just a superpower. We were a superpower. We are now a hyper-power.’

Tillerson tells us to rest easy, and Gorka says we are now a hyper-power and suggests this is the time to put our differences behind us and stand with the president.

Can this all be part of yet another effort to distract from the Russia investigation?

Trump’s lack of professionalism and knowledge of detente is obvious. Even in this delicate situation, he cannot stay off Twitter.

Once again, Trump lies. President Obama is responsible for modernizing and upgrading our nuclear arsenal, not Trump.

Strength is mostly a result of brain power, not fire power. Knowing what to say, how to say and who to say it to are key aspects of diplomacy and in keeping this nation safe. Rattling sabers or metaphorically thwapping one’s dong on one’s desk does not a great leader make.
