Governor Jerry Brown has asked President Trump for emergency aid as over 100,000 acres have already been burned and more are expected to be lost in a devastating blow to California’s North Bay area.
It is the home of California’s famed wine industry and much of it has been destroyed. Eleven people have died and fire officials are expecting more fatalities as the fires continue to spread rapidly. Many have lost everything; their homes have been completely incinerated.
The city of Santa Rosa has been particularly badly hit with some describing it as looking like Armageddon.
“The fires, which first whipped up Sunday night, added to what has already been a severe fire season in the West. More than 8 million acres have burned in at least four states, raising questions from across the political spectrum about the connection to climate change and forest management practices,” according to The Post.
