Artist, Sara DiDonato, studied painting at the University of Iowa and the University at Albany-SUNY. She currently teaches painting at the College at Brockport-SUNY.

In her work, DiDonato explores ideas about the shifting, fluid nature of feminine identity, and its constraints and boundaries.

“Girlhood is a space of otherness that is neither here nor there and exists both as a physical and mental state. The girl, on the threshold between childhood and womanhood, occupies a liminal space of identity-in-process, focused simultaneously on conforming to and resisting established norms of behavior.”

A solo exhibition of her most recent work will be on view from January 14-February 15, 2014 at the Federal Galleries of Kendall College of Art and Design, Grand Rapids, MI.
