Gina Occhiogrosso studied painting at Tyler School of Art, and the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Her work has appeared in group exhibitions at The Painting Center, The High Line, the Brenda Taylor Gallery and the Lana Santorelli Gallery in New York City; the Miami International Airport Gallery (MIA) in Miami; The Castle Gallery at the College of New Rochelle, and the Lehman College Art Gallery in the Bronx.
In my work, I attempt to depict flux, slippage and time-suspended through the liquid and flexible medium of paint. Pictorial fragments interact to suggest movement, unease or tremor. The landscapes in these works have not quite finished being transformed, and are not quite settled in time or space. Elements dangle, merge and reconvene.
These pictures focus on an ever-changing domestic landscape as well as our recent political and economic drift, and explore how natural and social forces interact, often randomly and violently, and with dire consequence.
