Women who discover they have cancer while they are pregnant now have options that many once thought they didn’t have. A new study found that women who were in their second or third trimester and received chemotherapy gave birth to babies that were no less healthy then women who did not have cancer. The difference seems to be in which trimester the cancer is discovered and the need to treat it.

Should a woman discover in her first trimester that she has cancer, doctors still recommend ending the pregnancy as this is time when birth defects are most likely to occur.
