The EU will begin to label some Israeli goods made in lands taken during the 1967 war “made in settlements.” The European Commission guidelines come after foreign ministers from some member nations urged action. Several nations, including Belgium, Britain and Denmark had already issued their own labeling guidelines as early as 2009.

The economic impact is expected to be minimal initially but could eventually extend to the broader economy if applied to businesses that have operations or affiliates in the contested areas, as many do.
