Temperatures in the 60s and 70s settled over the Northeast on the night before Christmas, and northerners accustomed to spending a frosty white Christmas in front of a roaring fire with a mug of hot cocoa may have to sport shorts and switch to iced tea as temperatures remain unusually high.

“Depending on whom you asked,” writes Errin Haines Whack, “the weather outside was either frightful or delightful.”
