Self-compassion goes a long way to making oneself happy.  It can foster the ability to pick up and move ahead when things go wrong; when the interview goes bad, or you stumbled at a presentation. How one handles failure is a key component of being able to be a success. If we berate ourselves and load our brain with negative self-talk, it will be a lot harder to move forward with optimism. And since most of us don’t get it right the first time it is imperative that we learn how to treat ourselves with compassion and forgiveness, just as we would a friend.
