The World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland is one of the largest and most high-profile gatherings of business and government leaders in the world. And yet, a mere 18% of the roughly 2,900 people scheduled to attend will be women.
As Valentina Zarya reports, the WEF has been criticized before for its lack of gender parity and says it has tried to get more women involved, according to WEF’s head of employment and gender initiatives, Saadia Zahidi. But as Zahidi points out, 18% actually exceeds the representation of women in global leadership. Sad but true.
