Both Michigan Governor Rick Synder and EPA official Gina McCarthy testified in front of the House Oversight Committee this week. Neither accepted any responsibility for the water crisis in Flint. They pointed fingers at each other and for the most part, the committee responded to each along partisan lines. The Republicans were blaming the federal agency (EPA) and the Democrats were blaming the Republican Governor. Given the release of emails that make it clear that the problem was known as far back as October of 2014, it makes it hard to believe that either person didn’t know something sooner that they both admit.
