The result of the European Union referendum taking place in the United Kingdom today is likely to be very close. Millions of Brits waited to cast a vote in a historic vote on whether the U.K. should remain in the 28-nation alliance known as the E.U., a decision that will certainly have repercussions around the world if they decide to leave.

A new Ipsos Mori poll taken on the eve of the vote showed that those who wish to “remain” had a narrow lead — 52% to 48%. But 13% of those polled said they might still change their minds on the day of the vote. The polls are set to close at 10pm Thursday night. Elections officials said they will announce the results on Friday.
