First minister Nicola Sturgeon will lobby European Union members directly to support Scotland’s remaining in the 27-nation alliance after Scots voted emphatically against Brexit on Thursday.
Sturgeon made the announcement after an emergency cabinet meeting adding that she would establish an expert body to advise her government on its options for retaining EU membership, report Severin Carrell and Jennifer Rankin.
Meanwhile, Scottish Labour Party’s executive committee is now considering the prospect of endorsing independence for Scotland as a possible option.
