The GOP have long been the party that caters to the rich while they pretend to care about middle-class Americans. When it comes to the poor, they haven’t even bothered to pretend.  Their righteous, religious indignation when it comes to women and wanting the ability to discriminate against LGBTQ, is silent when it comes to the poor.

No one who has been paying attention to the recent healthcare debacle or what is happening in regard to the attempt to gut public education will be surprised that they have no intention of stopping there. In order to pay for Trump’s wall, improve our crumbling infrastructure as taxes, increase defense spending, and cut corporate taxes programs will have to be cut.  What programs will be on the table?  Food stamps, housing assistance and programs for kids. Meals on Wheels has already been mentioned as a target.

According to Politico,

The proposal, which would be part of the House Budget Committee’s fiscal 2018 budget, won’t specify which programs would get the ax; instead it will instruct committees to figure out what to cut to reach the savings. But among the programs most likely on the chopping block, the sources say, are food stamps, welfare, income assistance for the disabled and perhaps even veterans benefits.
