Black Standard Bearers Are Standing Behind Clinton

With a few key exceptions, black politicians and clergy are supporting Hillary Clinton.  These are not new relationships but time-honored ones that have been developed over decades. While some are questioning loudly, most notably Michelle Alexander in The Nation, her support of her husband’s crime bill that incarcerated too many young black men and devastated communities, those that are supporting her now backed her husband and the passing of the bill then. Many black politicians lauded an attack on crime and a greater police presence. Bernie Sanders also voted for the bill, so it is not an issue that he can counter on.
