More Men Are Sharing Their Abortion Stories

Abortion is almost always framed as a woman’s issue but finally more and more, men are sharing their stories about abortion, too, suggesting that it should be a shared duty to ensure reproductive options for women.

In a Snap Judgment performance on NPR, writer and performer Josh Healey recalls his own abortion experience with his then-girlfriend of six months, Esther, when he was 19 years old, saying he left the decision up to her but was really hoping she’d say she wasn’t ready to be a parent because he knew that he wasn’t. Esther and Josh are now married.
