The Center for Disease Control considers the amount of people dying from overdoses to be an epidemic. More people are dying from opioid use than traffic accidents. Naxolone aka Narcan is a “miracle” drug that can immediately reverse the effect of an overdose. It can either be injected or administered through a nose spray.
Many states are now working to make sure that law enforcement officers have access to the drug and know how to administer the drugs. Other states are making sure that high schools have it on hand. And some states like New York and New Jersey are making it available over the counter.
