But in the refugee camp in Germany, he started to hit her in front of other people in public, finally beating her with a door handle and choking her. Under normal circumstances, there would have been a criminal investigation into what many would have called attempted murder. But “F” lives in a camp for Syrian refugees in Germany, and there, it seems “normal” does not apply. And yet, women in refugee camps have been brutalized for years, reports Jina Moore.
