Family members of Bettie Jones, 55, and Quintonio Legrier, 19, who were killed by Chicago police on Saturday while they were responding to a domestic disturbance, are demanding answers after police acknowledged that Jones was killed accidentally. They called on mayor Rahm Emanuel directly for help.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Legrier’s mother, Janet Cooksey asked, “When is the mayor going to help us?” “The police have failed us.” Jacqueline Walker, a friend of Betty Jones since childhood, added, “Why you get to shoot first and ask questions later?”
