U.S. companies spend millions on diversity programs and policies each year. And yet, in terms of increasing the representation of women and minorities, these programs seem to be having little to no effect. In fact, a study of over 700 U.S. companies, reports Harvard Business Review, found that diversity training programs might even decrease the representation of black women in the work force while the mere presence of such a program leads many to discount claims of unfair treatment.
