Hillary Clinton maintains a commanding lead in the race for the Democratic nomination but 74-year-old Vermont senator Bernie Sanders is giving her a run for the money with a successful campaign, especially in terms of attracting young voters. In fact, an NBC poll of Iowa voters released on Sunday has Bernie at 45% support, only 3% behind Hillary.

In 2016,  Millennials, represent about 36% of eligible voters, will play an even bigger role than in the 2008 election, which saw Obama won the young vote. Bernie’s message, focused on income inequality, is particularly attractive to young people burdened by student loan debt and with dim career prospects so Hillary really now has to pull out all the stops.
