The male kangaroo pictured in the ‘heartbreaking’ viral photographs with an injured female is anything but a ‘grieving’ companion, experts say. In fact, the male might very well have been responsible for her death after trying to mate with her.
The media also interpreted the interaction as a touching moment of grief. But one scientist pointed to ‘evidence’ of the male’s arousal as a more trustworthy indicator of the nature of the situation.
