The Hamilton County District Attorney has filed charges against Head Coach Andre Montgomery, Assistant Coach Karl Williams, and Athletic Director Jesse Nayadley of the Ooltewah High School Basketball team. They are charged with failing to report child abuse. The abuse was the rape and beating of a team member as part of a hazing ritual while at an away game in Gatlinburg, TN. The 15-year-old was sodomized with a pool cue and ended up having to have emergency surgery.
The investigation has found that at least three other boys were victims. The coaches did not only not report the abuse to police, but they also went on to play in the tournament, only coming home after it was over.
