Glenn Frey, a founding member of the Eagles, has died at the age of 67 in New York City following a weeks-long battle with rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.

Similar health issues date back to the 1980s, according to the Washington Post. In 1986, Frey missed a reunion concert and another attempt in 1990 was put off in part because of surgery to remove part of Frey’s intestine, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The Eagles postponed a 2015 Kennedy Center Honor in December once again due to Frey’s health, requesting that it be put off until “all four Eagles… can attend.”
