On Wednesday, Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would have stalled the resettlement of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in the United States by imposing tighter restrictions on refugee screening. The bill would have also required FBI, DHS and CIA chiefs to certify every single refugee from Iraq or Syria as having cleared a background check.
