Saudi Arabia said it will join a U.S.-led coalition and send ground troops into Syria to fight the Islamic State, a Saudi military spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ahmed Asiri, said in Riyadh on Thursday.

There has been increasing pressure on international stakeholders to start putting Syria first and their own interests second, and to push for a cease-fire in Syria’s civil war to allow the Syrians to “shift their attention away from fighting each other and focus on the Islamic State,” reports the Washington Post.
