Larycia Hawkins, a tenured associate professor of political science at Wheaton College in Illinois, was suspended from her job in December for saying that Christians and Muslims share the same god.

Hawkins, who vowed to wear a hijab for Advent in solidarity with Muslims, was put on leave for her Facebook post where she wrote about Islam and Christianity and, citing Pope Francis, said we all “worship the same God.”

Wheaton administrators thought the post contradicted the Christian college’s statement of faith.
