A woman’s constitutional right to abortion in under siege and the latest salvo is a bill that is sitting on Indiana Governor Mike Pence’s desk. HB1377 is a draconian bill that would do the following:
- Require Abortion clinics to bury fetal tissue or cremate it
- Prevent women from getting an abortion if they are given a fetal diagnosis of physical or mental disability, including Down syndrome
- Prevent women from going to mandated group sessions before having an abortion and instead, go to private ones.
- Prevent transportation of fetal tissue
This is not the entirety of what is in the bill as it goes on to threaten doctors who perform abortions. The Governor has not said whether he will sign it or not.
