Scientists in Japan have discovered a bacteria that eats the most common type of plastic, Polyethylene terephthalate.  It is an important discovery as too much of our garbage does not naturally disintegrate. According to CNN, the World Economic Forum predicts that by 2050 the amount of plastic in our oceans will outweigh the amount of fish. Scientists have also discovered a meal worm that eats styrofoam.
