Donald Trump has managed to remain the GOP’s frontrunner despite his erratic and contradictory statements, despite the violence, despite his mostly fact-free rally performances. His success, to many, particularly those in the Republican party, is surprising and more than a little disturbing, now at least. But President Obama is not surprised: the reality TV star and leading “birther” conspiracy theorist just capitalized on the GOP’s own dirty tactics. And he’s just doing it a whole lot better than the rest of the Republican candidates:
“If you don’t care about the facts, or the evidence, or civility, in general in making your arguments, you will end up with candidates who will say just about anything and do just about anything” to win, the president said.
