Alicia C. Shepard is a journalist who spent two years in Afghanistan, just like the lead character in Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot. The film is based on a book with the same name written by Kim Barker. It tells the story of her experiences as a journalist during the three years she lived in Afghanistan. Shepard went to see the film that was billed as a comedy and expected not to like it. She was wrong.
