Many families know the cost of losing the income of a member of a household - it can be devastating. But people who have young children and can’t afford daycare or elderly parents that have no one else to rely on, often find themselves in a position of having to leave the workforce in order to take care of a family member. Senator Chris Murphy is introducing the Social Security Caregiver Credit Act, which will allow those who have no choice but to leave employment to continue to get social security credits toward their retirement.
