When I was in my 20’s and 30’s I too wasn’t ready or even thinking about becoming a mom. I wanted to be an actress and had moved to New York City for that very purpose. While I soon found a man that I was to be with for 16 years, he wasn’t the man who I ultimately ended up marrying and having a family with. That didn’t happen until I was in my forties well past when I could have a biological child. We adopted and now I have two daughters, one is seven, and the other is nine. So much of what Estelle Erasmus applies to my journey of being a mom with young kids in my fifties, but I wouldn’t change any of it. -Jan Harrison
