In the first release of her new digital story collection, the History of the Magic in North America, J.K. Rowling associates Native American beliefs and traditions with magic.  When the trailer was released, she received a round of criticism for her not only implying that these practices were magical, but also that they were practiced by all Native Americans. Native Americans are not all the same, as each tribe has different beliefs, yet she treated them as one. It would be like lumping all Latinos or all black people together or even all white people together and suggesting that their beliefs aren’t impacted on the regions and countries from which they came.
