Even as some Republican members of the Senate are calling for a vote on US Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, Senator Mitch McConnell is holding firm on his vow not to meet with the candidate or hold hearings and a vote until the presidential election is over.  McConnell told MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, “ ‘It’s not the person. It’s the principle. Who ought to make this lifetime appointment? It’s the next president, not this one,’ McConnell said.”
