Janet Yellen is Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank.  She controls interest rates and how the central bank responds to economic conditions. Part of what she considers is what kind of impact will the bank’s actions have on Main Street and not just Wall Street and beyond.   It is a different approach than her predecessors. Yellen is also looking to provide more guidance and use her mandate to regulate the industry in a more impactful way than has been the recent tradition.
