Loneliness Can Be Lethal

Scientists are now saying that loneliness is a serious public health hazard. They have discovered links between loneliness and illness, including at the genetic level—saying that social “isolation changes the human genome in profound, long-lasting ways,” reports Amy Ellis Nutt.

What’s more, these genetic changes are similar to the damage done to health by smoking and by diabetes and obesity.
