Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for contempt after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples will not resign but will remain in custody, her lawyer said on Friday.

A conservative group representing the jailed clerk will appeal a federal judge’s ruling that Davis was in contempt as well as pursue a judgement that she was wrongfully jailed. While Davis sits in jail, deputy county clerks began issuing licenses to same-sex couples on Friday.
