Two prominent climate skeptics were caught accepting fees to write “scientific opinion” in an undercover sting operation by Greenpeace. The professors, both from leading universities in the US, were asked to write reports casting doubt on the dangers posed by global warming by Greenpeace members posing as fossil fuel consultants.

William Happer, the Cyrus Fogg Brackett professor of physics at Princeton University, was asked to write a report touting the benefits of rising carbon dioxide levels and of coal use. He accepted and also agreed, when asked by the consultant, to hide the source of the funding.
