Director Lilly Wachowski (co-director of The Matrix) was not exactly planning to announce that she was a transgender woman but since last year reporters had been calling her agent and threatening to publish stories about “Andy Wachowski’s transition,” she told the Windy City Times. Lilly finally decided to pre-empt the tabloids by telling her story to her hometown LGBT paper before The Daily Mail broke “the news.”
Wachowski said she really wanted more time, to feel more comfortable, before putting it all out there to the public, ‘But apparently I don’t get to decide this,’ she told The Daily Beast.
Wachowski also reminded readers of Lucy Meadows, a transgender schoolteacher who committed suicide after being outed by the Daily Mail’s Richard Littlejohn.
But then again, when has death or destruction ever stopped the Daily Mail? -DB
