A group of mayors from Florida wrote a letter to CNN to ask that moderator Jake Tapper bring up the issue of climate change and the devastating impact the rising sea levels are already having on their communities. The group is made up of both Republicans and Democrats, and all are concerned about the lack of conversation in both the debates and on the campaign trails concerning climate change. They accept the finding of 98% of the scientific community, and they have proof of its consequences in their own backyards.
When given the opportunity to address their concerns at the CNN debate, Rubio denied that climate change was an issue and said: “ ‘Sure the climate is changing, and one of the reasons the climate is changing is because the climate has always been changing.”
